Small Dog Miraculously Survives Devastating Flood That Destroyed Her House

For the past two weeks Ermioni Giannakou with DAR Animal Rescue has been driving to the villages in her area to help the many pets impacted by terrible floods that hit the villages and left destruction in their wake.

Ermioni travelled to this one village where she said all the villagers lost their homes and had to move away. Sadly, many people did not have time to evacuate with their pets in the chaos of the floodwaters so Ermioni has been going to the towns to provide food for the dogs and cats and see if she can find any survivors among the stench of death. On this trip she did! She found a dog in a yard of a wrecked house.

The small white dog was caked in mud and her feet heavy with clay. Ermioni has no idea how the dog survived but the trauma the dog endured is evident in her body language.

She grabbed up the dog and brought her to the vet where she could be treated and recover.

In more good news, Ermioni says she managed to find the owner of the dog. She learned that the family is still in temporary housing and can’t take the dog back at the moment so DAR Animal Rescue will keep the dog in safety until the family finds a new home. Thanks to DAR Animal Rescue’s dedication and courage to go the the disaster areas this dog (and kitten) have brighter days ahead.
