Anxiety Ridden Stray Dog Transforms into Cuddle Bug

A dog who was discovered on the streets, starving and covered in scars has made an amazing transformation. “Shaggy was scavenging for food scraps in the garbage when a compassionate Samaritan stumbled upon him and promptly took action to help,” says Angels for Mistreated Animals, the Brooklyn based no-kill animal shelter.

Shaggy was severely malnourished and dehydrated and he was visibly emaciated. His body also was covered in “healed scars and fresh wounds, indicative of a traumatic past.” The Good Samaritan took Shaggy home and then reached out to AMA Animal Rescue for help. Once they were alerted, they rushed him to the emergency hospital to be stabilized and treated.

Shaggy held mental scars as well as physical ones. He was extremely anxious and he overwhelmed his first foster family with his destructive behavior so he went back to the AMA’s shelter where he went into an intensive rehabilitation program. The specialized training program was expensive but necessary to give Shaggy a chance. And after several months of rehabilitation, AMA Animal Shelter shared that “Shaggy now stands fully healthy, joyful, and flourishing.” Not only that, he really loves to cuddle.
