Stray Puppy With Belly Like Balloon Given Little Chance to Survive Now Thriving
When Sabine and her team at Little Steps Matter spotted Toby lying on the ground they were very worried about him. The stray puppy had a tummy so big he couldn’t move. He looked at them with the saddest eyes and they knew if they didn’t help him he would die.
The Bali-based dog rescue rushed him to the vet where they were told Toby had fluid leaking into his belly (a condition called ascites) and to make matters worse he caught parvovirus. The vet didn’t give the puppy much chance of surviving but Toby proved them wrong. The pup had a tremendous fighting spirit and fought through his illnesses.
After six weeks at the vet, Sabine decided to take him home. Toby was warmly welcomed by all their other dogs and he began to heal his spirit and begin behaving like a puppy.
“It was wonderful to see his eyes begin to shine,” says Sabine.
The next step for Toby was to learn to walk with Sabine’s pack, usually the last step in a rescue’s journey before being adopted. But Toby fit in so well that he turned into a foster fail and joined the pack!
What a truly wonderful outcome for Toby. He couldn’t have asked for better rescuers or a better home!
