A sweet dog named Josie hides a painful past under her skin. The dog was found huddled on the side of the road in Alabama with a friend by her side. She was badly injured, having been shot by a BB gun. Her body is riddled with the pellets and she lost her vision as a result.

In hospital, Josie and her friend recovered and were adopted and Josie moved to Massachusetts to live with her new vet tech mom. The moment Josie arrived at her new home she began to map it out and learn everything she could about her new surroundings. “She was just going to figure it out on her own,” says her mom proudly. Josie is very smart and uses buttons to speak (like asking for dental chews). Her mom says people just can’t believe she’s completely blind when they meet her.
Not only has Josie settled in to her new home, she helps her mom fostering other animals. Her mom says that Josie has taught her a lot about overcoming life’s obstacles. Mom says, “Every day she wakes up and it’s the best day of her life.”
