Sweet Dog Steals Baby’s Swaddle So She Can Sleep with it in Her Crate
Khaleesi is a Rhodesian Ridgeback with a big heart. Ever since she was introduced to baby Max, the Rhodesian Ridgeback keeps a watchful eye on her little human and loves to be close by his side. Elana Stein shared a few adorable photographs with DogHeirs of Khaleesi and her son, Max.
Khaleesi has been a very affectionate dog since she was a puppy.
“My two month old Ridgeback knew I wasn’t feeling well and spent the day under the covers with me,” Elana said.
“We worried about how our dog would react to our 6 day old son when we brought him home from the hospital,” Elana told DogHeirs. “I think she loves him more than we do.”
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is very sweet and protective of their baby Max. “Already she likes to sit and watch him in his crib to make sure he’s OK,” explained Elana. “She stole a swaddle and sleeps with it in her crate.”
“Khaleesi is 10 months now. I got her when I was 7 months pregnant because my husband travels a lot and wanted someone to protect me while he was gone,” explained Elana. “She is so patient with Max.”
Max and Khaleesi are also regularly visited by the neighbor’s friendly French Bulldog. “Our neighbors have a French bulldog (1 year old) that we have a daily play date with them. The two puppies have watched over Max everyday since he was born,” said Elana.
She added, “In this picture the French bulldog hasn’t seen him in 3 days and couldn’t stop licking his face and Max just loved it. It reminds me of what pure joy looks like.”
“So many people warned against getting a dog right before we had a baby but we’ve really gone out of our way to train them both to be best friends,” said Elana.
“Max is learning to pet her correctly but still pokes her in the eye and she just lets him,” said Elana. “He crawls into her crate and they cuddle.”
The sweet pair are definitely well on their way to being best friends for life!
