Two Pittie Puppies Trapped in Abandoned Church During Gas Leak Rescued
Two puppies who were trapped in an abandoned church during a gas leak are in safe hands thanks to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Chief Rescue Officer Donna responded to a call the animal rescue received from workers who had been called out to an abandoned church to investigate a gas leak. “Once they got inside – WHOA! There were dogs trapped inside,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote on YouTube.
The video footage doesn’t do the rescue justice, the group admits. But they explain that Donna had to go alone so she set up her phone so she could capture part of the rescue. The two pups were crying under the door; they were so eager to get out! They bolted out the moment the door was cracked open and jumped for joy when released. “They must have been so frightened and all hope lost,” the rescuers wrote. “We can’t wait to help them feel better and get strong.”
The two dogs will need help healing. “These babies are bright pink. They have skin infections, are skinny, but most importantly – they are the wiggliest, most thankful babies EVER!”
Stray Rescue’s follow-up video shows just how wiggly!
The two puppies are now named St. Vincent for the boy and Daka for the girl. It’s been a few weeks since their rescue and Daka is looking for a foster home. Stray Rescue have gotten to know Daka more since her rescue and they describe her as a “unicorn of a dog.”
“Folks – this is the most gentle, easy going dog. When you touch her, she melts. She’ll just flop over her own body and land into your lap! She seeks affection and adoration. And her skin will continue to heal and her fur will be so sleek and shiny in no time. Please help us if you can! And we promise – by taking Daka, you will be thanking US!”
