Two Dogs Huddled on Street Corner are So Happy Someone Comes to Rescue Them
Suzette Hall regularly finds and rescues stray dogs she sees in Southern California. But every now and then she’ll come across a dog or two who call out to be rescued no matter what.
The other day she received a call from a woman who had seen a pair of dogs snuggled together on a street corner. There was a big dog (a Pit bull) and a small dog (a Yorkie mix) lying together on the sidewalk. The Good Samaritan had canvassed the neighborhood and learned the dogs had just appeared out of nowhere so she reached out to Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy, for help.
“The neighbors said they don’t belong here, they showed up days ago,” Hall said of the dogs in a Facebook post.
When Hall arrived to pick the dogs up, the two dogs were so relieved that someone had stopped and noticed them. “When we pulled up, they were so happy,” Hall described. “They looked at each other like they were saying ‘someone finally came’.”
She added the dogs were so happy, “They literally ran to me.”
“I was able to get the little girl right away,” Hall described her rescue. “And the big baby just wanted to be right with her.”
Not everyone would want to take the Pittie and Hall said as much. “Most people would have left the pit behind, but not on my watch.”
So Hall loaded both dogs into the car and into a crate to get them to a vet. She took some photos and video of her rescue of the pair and immediately marvelled at how close the two dogs are.
“I truly have not seen a bond quite like this before,” Hall wrote. Once both dogs were safe in her car she noted, “They wiggled their tails and were literally so happy with joy. They looked at each other again and said ‘someone did come’.'”
The dogs “snuggled all the way” on the trip to Camino Pet Hospital where they could get looked over.
Hall decided to name them Thelma (the pitta) and Louise (the terrier). Hall later told the Dodo that both dogs health check showed they are both healthy dogs although Louise will need a groom to get rid of the mats in her fur and Thelma has a skin rash.
Now the dogs are looking for a foster or forever family. But one thing Hall is really hoping for is for the pair to be adopted together.
“They have to be together,” Hall told the Dodo. “They are so in love.”
